Biggest myths about airline travel

Wednesday, November 26th, 2014

Everyone has heard by now that Tuesday is the cheapest day of the week to fly, and that last-minute tickets always cost more, but is that really true? The low airfare listing website, airefarewatchdog, is now saying that there’s no best hour to find cheap flights. The best way to find the best prices is to sign up for free airfare alerts and to check many times a day. Next, there’s not always no hope when shopping for last-minute deals. Travel agents can sometimes find you the best airfare if you’re open to options. Finally, before, airlines used to keep round-trip tickets cheaper than two one-way fares, but not anymore. Some are now selling their one-way tickets competitively, charging half the price of a full trip.

Budget airline looks into flights between Europe and Eilat

Monday, November 10th, 2014

EasyJet, the UK budget airline, is considering direct services to Eilat, the southern resort town in Israel. Israel’s Tourism Ministry Director General Amir Halevy met with execs from EasyJet at the World Travel Market conference in London last week as well as with reps from Transavia, the Dutch carrier. The country wants to increase international air traffic to the city, which deals with direct competition from the airport across the border in Jordan in Aqaba.

Earlier in 2014, EasyJet launched a Hebrew-language website for Israeli passengers; it also plans to begin a flight between Paris and Tel Aviv in 2015.

Cheapest flights

Tuesday, November 4th, 2014

Looking for some cheap flights for a holiday? It’s not likely you can beat the £99 (US$155) WOW flight from England to Washington or Boston, but there are other places you can go for a decent price. Any destination in the southern hemisphere is a good choice, sine South Africa, Australia, and Latin America are enjoying late spring. If you don’t want to go as far, a short weekend in Europe would be great, too.

If you carefully choose your dates, you can fly from London to JFK for £399, or £45 for a return flight to Madrid from London. For more savings, you can sometimes get a flight and hotel package through a travel agent.
