A Dreamliner-Only Airline in the Works for Cheap Transatlantic Flights

Norwegian Air Shuttle has put in an order for a fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners with plans to offer the cheapest transatlantic flights ever.  This means cheap flights between destinations such as Oslo and New York.  However, instead of the airline operating the flights itself, it looks as though they are creating a subsidiary to do the job.  The new carrier will be called Norwegian Long Haul, although it is not yet clear if that will be on the side of the fuselage.

One way or the other, the new carrier will have its own operating certificate.  The first Dreamliners will begin to arrive in their hangar in April 2013 and it won’t be long after that that the new long-haul flights will be launched.  Ticket sales have not yet begun and there are a number of details still to be worked out, but for now it seems as though cheap long-haul and transatlantic flights will be available in the very near future.
