Spirit Airlines is a budget carrier that is growing in popularity and they are now going to offer service out of the Philadelphia International Airport. Next year will mark the beginning of flights between Philadelphia and Dallas-Fort Worth. The flights are set to begin in April and will run four days per week. Spirit also flies out of Atlantic City, but the new flights out of Philadelphia are not expected to affect the Atlantic flights.
Spirit offers the only schedule air service out of Atlantic City, but officials at the Atlantic City International Airport say that they don’t connect directly with Dallas-Fort Worth and those flights from Philadelphia are only once a day. Philadelphia deputy mayor Rina Cutler wore a straw cowboy hat and had “The Yellow Rose of Texas” playing as the ceremony welcoming the new service was held. Virgin America and Alaska Airlines also conduct flights from Philadelphia to Dallas-Fort Worth.
