« » Survey Shows Few Canadians Going Home for the Holidays, an online leader in finding and publishing travel deals, has conducted a survey of 400 Canadians and found that while more than 80% of Canadians want to travel to see their family this holiday season, fewer than 30% have actually made travel plans.  On the flip side of the coin, there were 18% of people who said they wish they could travel to be away from their family for the holidays and 3.2% of the respondents are actually doing so.

So who do people most want to visit?  Parents and children top the list of favorites, while the in-laws are at the bottom of the list, with only 2% of respondents putting them on their travel wish list.  The main factors causing people to avoid holiday travel this year are cost and distance, but these were followed closely by a feeling of just not liking the family.  Overall, the feeling of camaraderie and good spirit was the most enjoyable part of the holidays for most Canadians.
