Cheapflights.com-owned Momondo Creates Flight Rating System

Price comparison service, Momondo, owned by Cheapflights.com, is aiming to improve metasearch by creating a flight rating system that will find the balance between price and flight duration.  In June, the Momondo talked about creating a semantic search engine and revealed the first step in the process would be to create a ‘convenience balancer.’

The idea behind the new flight ratings system is that the best flight is not always the cheapest flight.  The system rates flights on a scale from 1 to 10, based on a combination of the cost of the flight and the duration of the flight.  Users can also edit their findings based on their priorities for their trip.  Momondo is redesigning their website and will launch the new flight rating system at the same time and the new website goes online.  Momondo’s ultimate goal is to return better search results by making use of data based on the online behavior of customers.
