EasyJet Flights from London to Moscow Officially Launched

EasyJet has now officially launched flights from London’s Gatwick Airport to Moscow, becoming the second airline to offer the service alongside British Airways.  The airline won the license after British Airways’ parent company took over BMI, the airline that had been servicing the route.  EasyJet beat out Virgin Atlantic for the honor of operating on the route with the promise of accommodating greater number of passengers with lower ticket prices.

The price for a return ticket from London to Moscow on easyJet will be £125, or $189, and this price is fixed for the next three years.  This is much lower than British Airways lowest ticket price of £311, or $470.  Ministers from both the UK and Russia regard the new service with the optimism that it will increase trade and investment cooperation between the countries.  Carolyn McCall, chief executive of EasyJet, said that it is a landmark route and they are delighted to service it.
