Flights ground in Costa Rica due to volcano

It’s not every day a volcanic eruption grounds flights but that’s exactly what happened in Costa Rica this past week. The country’s famed Turrialba volcano just had its most powerful eruption in the past 20 years, which resulted to large amount of ash in the sky. As a result the airport in San Jose had to close the airport. The gas and ash reached the area over the capital city making it far too dangerous for flights. As a result there were over 100 flights that were cancelled.

It wasn’t just one eruption, the volcano erupted three times on Thursday alone then again on Friday. As a precaution the residents who live in the foothills have left their homes and everyone is being told to stay on alert.
