Indian airlines offer new deals

Airlines in India are having to come up with new tricks to bring in customers during a slump in the economy. Beginning earlier in 2014, several of the airlines slashed advance-purchase prices, and SpiceJet Ltd. and IndiGo announced a deal this week.

The top budget airlines will offer discounts of up to 25 percent when between four and nine people buy domestic flight tickets at the same time.

This price deal comes just before summer, when more families might be attracted by a discounted price when traveling in a group.

SpiceJet also started an “on-time guarantee” where passengers are given 500 rupees if the flight is delayed one or two hours, and a voucher for 1000 rupees if canceled or delayed for more than two hours.
