Low-fare carrier starts selling tickets from Virginia to seven destinations

Low-fare carrier PEOPLExpress has started selling tickets from Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport in Virginia to seven different destinations.

Service will start on June 30 and people will be able to fly to Boston, Pittsburgh and Newark. On July 15, service to West Palm Beach will begin, Atlanta will be added on August 1, and St. Petersburg and New Orleans will be added August 28.

The airline is based out of that airport and will use Boeing 737-00 planes, each of which seat 150 passengers.

PEOPLExpress was publicly launched in February of 2012 but several delays pushed the launch date for flights. The goal is to serve unserved or underserved markets and charge 40 percent less than usual fares. There will be a frequent flier program too. Some flights will start at $76.
