Qantas Partnership with Emirates Spawning Cheap Flights

Qantas Airlines has developed a very tight-knit and extensive alliance with Emirates and this has caused many other airlines that fly between Europe and Asia to reduce the price of tickets on those routes.  Flight Centre, the biggest travel agency in Australia, said that airlines such as British Airways, Malaysia Airlines, and Cathay Pacific are selling tickets that can be as much as thousands of dollars cheaper than they were last year.

An example of a cheaper flight this year compared to last year can be seen in the British Airways flight from Sydney to London.  This flight is $1778 this year, which is $849 cheaper than the same flight was last year.  In order to get their statistics, Flight Centre analyzed fares from April 5 and compared them to flights at the same time last year.  Flight Centre managing director Graham Turner said these savings are available across all classes and some of them are for flying during the peak northern summer season.
