Ryanair Scraps “One-Bag Rule”

Confirmation has come from Ryanair that they have done away with their “one-bag rule.”  This applies to all flights across the airline’s network and will allow passengers to carry on an additional bag, including a shopping bag.  The decision has already had an impact of retail sales in airports Ryanair services.  The change was announced last week and took effect on Sunday, December 1.  The second carry-on bag can be up to 35x20x20cm, and is in addition to the free 10 kg cabin bag allowance.

According to Manchester Airports Group Retail Director Beth Brewster, the change in the carry-on baggage rule had already been implemented at Stansted Airport since the beginning of November.  Brewster said the change in the one-bag rule made by Ryanair is a fabulous step in the right direction.  She adds that there is now clarity in the rules, something for which Ryanair should be applauded.  There are still concerns about the carry-on baggage rules, including the size allowance for the second bag, which is bigger than the standard shopping bag size in airports.
