Volaris Adding Flights from Phoenix to Mexico

Mexico’s low-cost carrier Volaris is planning to begin service from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Mexico City and Guadalajara.  The flights will operate three times per week and will depart from Sky Harbor’s Terminal 4.  However, at the present time, the precise days and times for the flights have not been determined.

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said that the new flights and the presence of Volaris at the Sky Harbor Airport will act to strengthen the cultural and economic ties between Arizona and Mexico.  Stanton cited a recent study conducted by Arizona State University that found the average passenger from Mexico to Phoenix spends $1,700 in the Valley.  That adds up to $200,000 per flight.  According to Phoenix City Manager David Cavazos, they approached Volaris about the deal.
