As well as providing a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Delhi, the Lodi Gardens harbour a number of beautiful tombs and a fine collection of tropical shrubs and trees.
The tombs are of the Sayyid and Lodi rulers. Mohammed Shah's Tomb (1450) was a prototype for the later Mughal-style tomb of Humayun, a design that would later develop into the Taj Mahal. Other tombs include those of Mubarak Shah (1433), Ibrahim Lodi (1526) and Sikander Lodi (1517).
