Muju Firefly Festival

Jun 2009 (annual)
Link: Muju Website
Every June, Muju's environmental festival presents exhibitions and other events in honour of the mountain resort's natural pride and joy - the firefly.
With the blessing of clean air and clean water, this South Korean region offers the perfect environment for this extraordinary little creature.

Main events include a natural ecology photograph exhibition, a prayer festival for firefly prosperity, a firefly nature school and an environmental speech contest (less interesting for those who don't speak the local dialect).

Muju, a four-hour drive South from Seoul, has more to offer than fireflies - for nature fanatics it also has the wonders of Mount Togyu National Park and Mount Maisan in Chinan.
