Are you looking for some old-fashioned fun in Frankfurt? Head for the Autumn Dippemesse, a fun fair set out on Festplatz am Ratsweg square, which offers entertainment to keep the whole family happy.
Try one of the numerous carousels, the rollercoaster or, if you prefer, stick to the regional wines and foods - Frankfurt boasts an unusual speciality in its apple wine, served in rustic earthenware jugs. The biggest attractions are the huge firework displays that open and close the fair, the last big open-air fair before the winter.

The Dippemess developed from a market of household crafts which first took place in the 14th century ("dippe" is dialect for pots). Today it is one of the most popular amusement fairs in the country, attracting 500,000 visitors - without having abandoned the traditional trade. So, you'll get an insight into the city's traditions while having a day of pure fun.
