Near RɆmerberg square, the Historical Museum offers a fascinating journey through Frankfurt's history, from Roman settlers to investment bankers. Its small cafȳ doubles as a museum for Frankfurt's famous cider-like apple wine. Finish your visit by trying a glass.
The experience is divided into chronological sections exploring the Roman, Medieval and modern periods through a diversity of paintings, photographs, graphics, toys, sculptures, furniture, weapons and much more. Highlights include a miniature model of the old city centre in the foyer, which depicts urban Frankfurt before its destruction during the Second World War.
