Held at the German Film Museum, the Lucas International Children's Film Festival is judged by two juries, one chaired by children and the other by young people. Two films receive the illustrious Lucas award.
The event is the only A-category film festival in the Rhein-Main area. International films are screened before a large audience of children, young people, parents, teachers, film experts and directors and lively discussions take place after the screenings.

Films chosen tend to focus on the experience of young people and young filmmakers. The festival is an opportunity for cultural differences to be explored and celebrated by the children through screenings, talks and discussions.
