Munich might be famous for Weiȣwurst and beer festivals, but the lederhosen crowd are not the only locals who know how to party. The two-day street party for Munich Christopher Street Day brings Pride Week to its climax.
Bavaria and Munich are not exactly known for being progressive and liberal, but that does not stop more than 70,000 excited spectators from taking to the streets in lederhosen, feather boas and high heels to watch the 30,000-strong parade on Christopher Street Day. It's a fantastic show, bringing together greats from politics, cabaret, television and music.

Mirroring the general attitude among CSD organisers around the country, the organisers also emphasise the roots of the Munich Christopher Street Day: the New York Stonewall riots in 1969, at which gay people took to the streets in order to fight for civil rights, pride and equality.
