The Munich Film Festival (Filmfest Mɒnchen) is one of Germany's biggest, taking in a huge number of premiȲres, retrospectives, country and regional spotlights, TV movies, a children's section and more.
Although it is broadly non-competitive, the event does present a number of awards and also takes in the Munich Festival of Film Schools. It screens around 150 international films every year and - in the Festival of Film Schools - around 200 student movies.

This is both a big industry event and, in the German tradition, an accessible public forum for film screenings and discussions. Members of the public are encouraged to attend, and they also have great beer...
