The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, Texas contains an impressive 700 artefacts that form a detailed account of this bakingly-hot southern state's history, with an enticing mixture of traditional museum pieces and more modern media exhibits.
The days of museums being soulless buildings for people to walk through keeping their hands to themselves and their minds on autopilot are numbered. This museum aims to educate through a wide variety of attractions, taking the three main themes of Land, Identity and Opportunity.

A real push towards a modern way of educating is evident in the museum's two cinemas. Not only does the building hold Austin's only IMAX Theatre, it also houses the unique Texas Spirit Theatre. The latter is a multimedia special effects theatre capable of holding 200 people and regularly holds presentations and a range of films and shows. The three-screen showhouse can also be changed from an auditorium to a normal theatre depending on the show.
